Nancy Scott is “a long-time performer who has been instrumental in promoting women’s music in Austin.” Gretchen Phillips
For over 40 years she has been creating songs, ranging from folk to blues blended with a touch of country, that draw upon her daily experiences and express her soul. She has opened for Meg Christian, Robin Tyler, Nancy Vogel, Robin Flower, Phranc and Ferron. “This modest artist’s dedication to encouraging and promoting other musicians is striking; she hosted a monthly singer-songwriter circle at Patsy’s Café in Austin for 6 and 1/2 years and encourages new performers in the Living Room at NWMF every year.” She was selected for NWMF’s open mic in 2004 and performed on the Spotlight Stage in 2007. This year, 2021, she will be performing on the NWMF Spotlight Stage along with her friend and 30-year accompanist, Millie Marlow. In addition to her regular gigs, Nancy plays bass in the Peoples Orchestra of Austin and has performed at Texas women’s prisons, benefits, assisted living facilities and kid’s shows.
She received the NWMF Jane Schliessman Award for Contributions to Women’s Music in 2018.
She currently has 3 cd’s available and is finally working on #4.
