Louise Goldberg and Mary Reynolds, who make up the duo Miss Brown to You, have appeared all over central Oklahoma, playing jazz, blues, folk and original music, since 1990. They are frequently featured at the Woody Guthrie Festival and recently appeared at the Kerrville Folk Festival.
Louise Goldberg holds a Bachelor of Music from Boston University and a Master of Music from Oklahoma City University. She has appeared with a wide variety of performing groups as pianist, vocalist and guitarist. She has composed musicals for Oklahoma City Children’s Theatre and is a frequent contributor to musical productions at Carpenter Square Theatre, Oklahoma City Theatre Company and most notably the Pollard Theatre. where she was bandleader and pianist for the smash productions of ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’’, ‘Passing Strange’ and ‘Rent.’ For the last several years Louise has composed music for film and TV, scoring placements in ‘Counterparts’, ‘Bojack Horseman’ and ‘The Young and the Restless’, among others.
A classically trained vocalist, Mary Reynolds can call upon an eclectic repertoire of traditional material and American popular songs. She is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar or bass as required. Some of her compositions and interpretations were featured in the Fast Folk Musical Magazine when she lived in New York City in the early 80’s, and those are archived at the Smithsonian Institution. While living in Austin, in the 90’s, she was a frequent performer on the Austin scene, including as a bassist in Nancy Scott’s band, and was spotlighted in a solo “Live Set,” the venerable live radio broadcast of KUT Radio. Mary also contributes to the musical ministry of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Oklahoma City, and pursues many other projects in traditional, country, jazz & pop music.
