This Montreal-born folk/singer/songwriter emerged on the Canadian music scene in the mid-80’s, offering songs with a strong message of peace, strength and love sung in both English and French. Lucie began performing as a child, accompanying her mother’s five-piece band as a drummer. Later, she taught herself to play the guitar, then the piano. In 1984, she attended the Festival de la Chanson de Granby and received three awards: the “Singer-songwriter Award”, the “Press Award”, and the “Public Award”.[1] This propelled her onto the Quebec music scene and exposed her to a variety of radio and television media.
Over the next few decades, Tremblay continued to record and tour, becoming a passionate but peaceful voice in the feminist and LGBTQ+ communities with her soothing music. In addition to sharing the stages with major artists like James Taylor, Randy Newman and women’s music artists Holly Near, Cris Williamson and Alix Dobkin, she made appearances in France at Quebec Chante à St. Malo, in Spain at the World’s Fair as well as tours in Australia and New Zealand.
Former Olivia Records artist, Lucie Blue Tremblay continues to play and record on her own label Maggie & Shanti Music Canada.
Lucie Blue currently lives happily with her wife in Nova Scotia where Lucie finds inspiration on the Bay of Fundy.
