Join the NWMF Folk Orchestra
Have you always wanted to be a performer at the festival? Bring your instruments, voices, hands and feet. No one person or instrument will be turned away. We will make an ensemble of experienced and non- experienced players of traditional and non traditional instruments and perform original and traditional pieces. Fiddles, washboards, guitars, percussion, keyboards, tubas or trombones.We will make music and we will have fun! Directed by songwriter/ composer Kiya Heartwood ( Stealin Horses, Wishing Chair.) Please send your suggestions, instruments you are bringing or would like to try and questions tokiya@kiyaheartwood.com. Some additional instruments will be provided for those without.
Kiya Heartwood ( Stealin Horses, Wishing Chair) is an award winning, internationally touring, feminist roots/folk rock singer- songwriter, composer and change artist. The UK’s Broadway Baby describes Kiya Heartwood as “an award-winning American singer-songwriter who writes smart, funny and poignant songs about the famous and not-so-famous legends of America.” Heartwood “serves up a lively batch of original songs that follow on to two of the oldest traditions of folk music: storytelling and political broadside.” Kiya’s latest CD is called Palo Duro.
